Lil Baby uses his voice and platform to shed light on the current Black Lives Matter movement happening across the United States. The Atlanta rapper releases a record titled “The Bigger Picture,” produced by Section 8 and Noah, that delves into his personal experience with racism and police brutally in America.

Lil Baby paints a picture of the racial injustices occurring in his hometown, Atlanta Georgia, with his undeniably smooth flow and powerful lyrics. He expresses his feelings about violence and depicts the issue in a sensitive yet concise and direct manner.
The song starts with soudbites from news reports regarding the death of George Flyod and the Minneapolis protests springing across the nation followed by chants of protestors that underly Lil Baby’s verses and resurge even more powerful at the end.
The music video consists of footage of Lil Baby at the protests sporting a Black Lives Matter shirt walking with the people in support of the current protest. It also showcases several clips from television broadcast networks, powerful protestor signs, and most prominently, people standing strong together against racism.
Throughout 4 minute and 16 second, Lil Baby sprints across the beat, anxious, angry, and confused as he tries to put to the words the feelings of millions of Americans are struggling to express. You can sense his frustration and nerves in his voice, as well as his determination and belief in this cause.
The 25-year old rapper is not new to the scene of activism. He has always used his voice to speak his mind. Since the spring of the protests, he has been spotted protesting in his city and even walked alongside Atlanta city councilmen Antonia Brown.

In support of the movement, Lil Baby has shared through instagram that the proceeds from his track “The Bigger Picture” are going towards several organizations which support the cause and the movement, including The National Association of Black Journalists, Breonna Taylor’s attorney, The Bail Project, and Black Lives Matter.
