H-Town Rapper JIBO Talks Belonging To The South & Upcoming EP

Houston native JIBO has cultivated a unique sound, a mixture of melodic trap sounds with a paced out smooth flow by entering an alternate universe while making music, a safe space where he becomes one with himself and creates authentic tracks inspired by his life and surroundings.

Everyday I wake up Issa great day in my eyes🙏🏾💯

Born Oluwasheyi Olatomiwa Kazeem Ajiboye, JIBO chose his stage name as an abbreviation of his last name. He started dabbling into the music scene in high school after he started falling for the artistry while messing around with his friends, freestyling at the lunch table and classroom. Initially, he started recording music on voice memos and then transitioned to recording on a microphone.

Being from the south, JIBO was captivated by the massive music culture that came out of his city. He was influenced by Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, and many more who made it outta h-town. A city known for its unique style and distinguished sound, he was inspired by the greats to start making music. He is also drawn to current trap icons, the Migos, Swae Lee, Gunna, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Young Thug.

The Houston rapper recorded his hit track “Sins” produced by Sahara and mastered by Soulis in his dorm room during his senior year at York College in Nebraska. He started freestyling as soon as he heard the beat, getting drawn into it with every note and everything just naturally feel into place afterwards. It was a message about keeping it real, solid and being honest. Once it was done, he had doubts about releasing the track worried about how it would be received and held off on dropping it. He shared it with some of his friends who loved it and urged him to drop it.

JIBO created “Same Thang” last summer produced by Beats by 17 and mastered by Soulis. The track was inspired by one of his close friends who he felt a deep connection with.

Through his music, he wants his fans to know that “anything is possible if you believe in yourself and never give up no matter the obstacles you face or people who may talk down or don’t believe in your vision.” He credits his ambition, hard work, dedication, and passion, noting that he would be committing a disservice towards himself if he did not follow his dreams.

JIBO is ready to take on life with his high energy positive personality and eagerness to grab every opportunity that presents itself throughout his journey to success. He aims to share his music with a wider audience and to continue developing, growing, and challenging himself as an artist. He is a believer in the process and reaching success step by step.

The 22 year old rapper plans on dropping a debut EP with 4-6 songs close to the end of summer and another a collaboration project with one of his close friends. JIBO’s solo EP is going to be a mixture of vibes with straight melodic rhymes while exploring his natural voice. He is going to have some tracks dedicated to the ladies, some about grinding to the top with his dawgs, and a track speaking on the reality of being a black man in America.

He is also dropping a single called “Chocolate” within the next week! Stay tuned
