Chicago Rapper Brothers Polo G and Trench Baby Charged After Mansion Raid

Polo G and Trench Baby, two prominent hip-hop artists hailing from Chicago, have recently found themselves in legal trouble as they were charged with robbery. The incident unfolded on Friday, August 25, when the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) executed a search warrant at Polo G's luxurious mansion in Chatsworth.

The police raid was a response to a reported armed robbery that took place on August 15 in Granada Hills. The victim, a videographer who had plans to shoot a music video with Trench Baby, claimed that he was held at gunpoint and robbed of his camera equipment and personal belongings.

During the course of the raid, law enforcement discovered an illegal short-barrel rifle at Polo G's residence, leading to his arrest. He was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm. Furthermore, Trench Baby was also taken into custody and charged with robbery.

Although both artists were released on bail on Thursday, August 24, they faced further legal trouble when the Burbank Police Department re-arrested them the following day for an unrelated incident. Details regarding this subsequent arrest have not yet been disclosed.

Polo G, whose real name is Taurus Bartlett, is a 24-year-old rapper who has achieved considerable success with hit singles such as "Pop Out" and "Dolla Sign Shawty." His music often reflects the harsh realities of growing up in Chicago, showcasing his unique storytelling abilities.

Trench Baby, whose real name is Taurean Bartlett, is Polo G's younger brother and an emerging rapper in his own right. He has released several singles, including "Trench Baby" and "No Hook," which have garnered significant attention from music enthusiasts.

Both artists are scheduled to appear in court on September 12 to address the charges against them. In addition to the robbery allegations, Polo G is also facing charges of drug possession and kidnapping stemming from an unrelated incident that occurred in April.

Polo G has yet to comment on the charges filed against him. However, his attorney, Scott Strellis, expressed confidence in the eventual dismissal of these charges, stating that once all the facts are known, the case will likely be resolved.

These charges have arisen at a time when both Polo G and Trench Baby are experiencing considerable success in their music careers. Polo G's latest album, "Hall of Fame," was released in June and swiftly claimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Meanwhile, Trench Baby's popularity is also on the rise, with his single "Trench Baby" amassing over 100 million streams on Spotify.

Polo G is also expected to drop his highly anticipated album release “Hood Poet” on September 15th, a few days after his scheduled court appearance.

The arrests of Polo G and Trench Baby serve as a stark reminder that even accomplished celebrities are not exempt from the reach of the law. The impact of these charges on their respective careers remains uncertain and will undoubtedly be closely watched by fans and industry insiders alike.
