Bobby Shmurda Parole Hearing SCHEDULED for AUG 18th & Mother Shares His Plans After Release

Hitmaker Bobby Shmurda has defined all odds and maintained relevance over the past six years while locked up. News of his early release has gone viral as he is expected to be released after his parole hearing scheduled Tuesday (Aug 4th), on his 26th birthday.

However, according to his mother, Shmurda’s parole hearing will actually be held on Aug 18th despite the rumors surfacing social media

Back in 2014, the Miami rapper was arrested with a bail set at $2M. He spent two years awaiting his trial and was charged in 2016 after pleading guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession. The charge for conspiracy to commit murder was dismissed as part of his plea deal.

During his sentencing in Manhattan Courtroom, Shmurda mentioned wanting to withdraw his plea and said “I was forced by my attorney to take the plea. I was forced.” He reportedly told his lawyer, “I want to drop my plea and fire you. Why are you telling me to waive my rights? I am not waiving my rights.” The judge denied his withdrawal.

Shmurda was sentenced to seven years with two years time served considering the time he spent awaiting his trial.

A few weeks ago, Shmurda’s website was updated with a sign that said “How long can you wait?” with a countdown to August 4th at 8:00PM EST.

The sign has since been removed, despite fans hopeful speculation that his release will occur sooner.

The rapper’s mother, Leslie Pollard, spoke to TMZ about her son’s condition. Shmurda is set to appear in front of a parole board where he plans to let them know that if they release him, he is going to dedicate his time to the studio and stay out of trouble.

Pollard also informed TMZ that Shmurda has been doing a lot of writing behind bars, and plans on recording a project to be released under the label that signed him, Epic Records, despite them not bailing him out back in 2014. Shmurda told the New York Times at the time, “When I got locked up, I thought they were going to come for me, but they never came.” In a Rap Radar podcast, label CEO L.A. Reid blamed their decision to not bailing him out on the weak financial condition of the industry.

Shmurda also plans on producing a documentary about his life aimed towards aiding and educating troubled youth. He wants to spend his time sharing his story with the youth and doing his best to direct them towards a better path than the one that led him to spending years behind bars.

Once released, Shmurda will undergo 5 years probation.
