Davonyea Marcel Opens Up On Issa Insecurities
Davonyea Marcel shifts gear with his latest project Issa Insecurity EP and opens up about his insecurities, timidness, and what made him who he is today.
Issa Insecurity EP is a 6-track balanced project with both hype music and feel good tracks, but due to its personal nature, it has no features. It was engineered by Faux & Suzan, and produced by My Guy Mars, Buddafly Wolf, Danny Olivaz, and Alvin Allure.
Davonyea conceptualized Issa Insecurity in his car, and started recording his reference tracks parked on the streets of Los Angeles. He recorded the reference track to “Grudges” produced by Buddafly Wolf by Universal Studios watching cars pass by and getting lost in the chaos. However, after finishing the hook to “Slide Thru” (Prod. by My Guys Mars) in his front seat, he knew it was time to get in the studio and make it come to life.
Rather than replicating what is popular, Davonyea chose to face his fear and open up about his insecurities to make authentic music that is true to himself and delve into the plethora of things people have said about him throughout his life and the affects it had on his progression.
On of Davonyea’s personal tracks is “Royalty” (Prod. by Alvin Allure). It is a letter to himself and reveals his “breaking point.” Throughout the track, he talks about how he used to let what others have to say about him dictate the course of his life due to his timidness. Davonyea snaps on the track realizing his worth and speaks on it rather than just accepting the cards life had given him.
Throughout the project, Davonyea exposes himself freeing him from the restraints he was under and the insecurities that were dictating his life and introduces his fans to the real him.
“Secrets” (Prod. by Alvin Allure) stems from personal experience and is inspired by a crush he had one someone when he was young. It talks about all the things he thinks he should have said or done, and how he imagines things going in that situation if he knew what he knew now.
Through sharing his experiences, Davonyea wants his fans to know that regardless of what a person has been through, or what people say someone can or cant do, anyone can do whatever they want, and to always believe in oneself, despite what anyone says.
Issa Insecurity pays homage to one of the greats, Lionel Richie, by replicating one of his album cover stances for the artwork.
Davonyea has plenty coming up next for his fans. He’s dropping music videos for Issa Insecurity next, with a possibility of behind the scene footage, and working on merchandising. He plans on dropping a clothing line with hoodies, sweaters, sweatshirts, bomber jackets, as well as pillows, and onesies for the babies.
Davonyea is also working on new music, with possible features on his next project.
